So, some traveling was in order this past weekend. Going to a a farm with a garden center, a marketplace, tortoises and more!
We started off the trip by making our usual pitstop at 7-eleven. We usually grab a drink and taquitos. That morning they did not have the taquitos ready. We made another stop at some other fast food places to grab a quick bite to eat.
We took our time on the drive up to the farm. Singing karaoke and talking about what are plans were for the day and the future. Trying to make some big life decisions as well as plans for the garden this year.
We made it to the farm around noon. It looked busy from the parking lot alone. It did not look like much on the way up, only passing some planting areas and being so early in the season here, not much was growing yet. Then as we walked through the main entrance, there were dozens of trees split up by flowering and fruit and others. There were also lots of raspberry varieties and other plants out that can survive the frost. Then as we go further in we come across this:
I had not done any research on what would be here, so this was quite a nice surprise.
They had a restaurant down on the end. All the shops were connected to one another. They sold seeds and house plants and even homemade ice cream and other oddities. It was pretty cool. On the other side of these shops, were some connected greenhouses.
It was lovely being in greenhouses. The grape vine on the last picture was the biggest I have ever seen. The grapes that were already growing and pretty decent sized. The main stems on either side of the wall were at least 8cm in diameter.
We spent a good portion of the afternoon at the farm. We visited all the shops and greenhouses, walked around to the plants gathered outdoors. We could not decide if we wanted to pick up a plum tree for the backyard and ended up putting that on hold. We walked around to see the other fruit trees they had out and then wandered into some greenhouses that we still are not sure if they were actually supposed to be open to the public.
Walking through some of the greenhouses and looking at the flowers, it is making me excited to plant up the front yard. The only thing that is holding me back is that I want to find perennials. I am not a fan of buying flowers one season just to have to replace them the next season.
We thoroughly enjoyed our visit and will definitely be going back sometime in the near future. It makes me feel relaxed walking through all of the greenery. It makes it feel like I can breathe and helps clear my head. If I had the ability, I would have a greenhouse of my own. Maybe that dream will come true someday.
